At gusto!, I have led Training & Development through a period of rapid growth, supporting expansion from 5 to 14 units, including the company’s first out-of-state location. I spearheaded the design of unit-level career paths, aligning team member development with company objectives, improving retention and engagement across hourly and leadership roles. I overhauled the Grand Opening process, creating a standardized “Core Process” that maximized new hire proficiency and first-week revenue, while building and managing a corporate training team of four to oversee training material creation and on-site execution. To scale learning, I launched the company’s first LMS, curating 500+ resources and 50+ courses for digital-first delivery, and integrated performance metrics to track ROI. I also designed and delivered comprehensive onboarding and leadership development programs for shift leaders, AGMs, and GMs, while introducing interactive learning tools such as e-learning, microlearning, and workshops tailored to a diverse frontline workforce. These initiatives established training as a strategic driver of operational excellence and positioned L&D as a cornerstone of gusto!’s growth strategy.

At Panera Bread, I had the chance to support a medium-size franchise group by creating training programs for both hourly and leadership teams across multiple locations. I worked on improving onboarding by building structured pathways that made it easier for new team members to feel prepared and confident, while also helping reduce turnover and bring more consistency to guest service. A big focus of my work was making sure training supported both brand standards and the day-to-day realities of busy cafés. Partnering with operations, I helped roll out train-the-trainer programs that gave café-level leaders the tools to carry training forward, which encouraged a stronger culture of learning and development at every level. I was also fortunate to collaborate with the St. Louis corporate team on projects that piloted new initiatives at the franchise level and provided feedback to strengthen results. A personal favorite example was teaching the AWED model for change management, a framework I found so effective that I still use and teach it today. This role gave me valuable experience in finding the balance between national expectations and local needs, something that continues to guide how I approach training today.
